The company wants to take a considered view of a use case for permitting the users to make changes to their tweets. Twitter has been considering the twitter edit tweet button for the longest time but they want to do it the ‘Right’ way. According to the CEO, Jack Dorsey, the company wants to actually solve the predominant reason why the users would do it. They do not want to make something which is distracting and taking things away from the public record.

According to a top executive, many Twitter users have been asking for an edit button because they want to correct their mistakes or spelling errors and adding incorrect URLs. Twitter wants to actually solve the problem of the users which they see as a friction in the service being provided to them. Speaking at the town hall at IIT-Delhi, Dorsey answered a number of questions by the students ranging from topics like best and worst decisions, changes in the education system and also the impact of social media on the younger generation.

In response to a question, he also mentioned that the number of Twitter followers does not matter, the users must focus on having meaningful conversations. Dorsey also gave some advice to would-be entrepreneurs, he suggested that it is important that businesses and algorithms based on artificial intelligence are created with a sense of ethical and moral responsibilities, as these will play a major role in affecting the lives of people.
