After years of anticipation, WhatsApp may finally be coming to the iPad. A recent post on X (formerly Twitter) from the official WhatsApp account has sparked speculation that a native iPad app is on the verge of release.
In the cryptic post, WhatsApp shared an image of an iPad running what appears to be a version of the messaging app, accompanied by the caption “Big screens deserve big news.” The teaser stops short of confirming a release date but strongly implies that support for iPads is imminent.
For years, iPad users have had to rely on workarounds such as WhatsApp Web or third-party apps to use the service on their tablets. A dedicated iPad app has been one of the most requested features among users, especially as WhatsApp has expanded its multi-device capabilities in recent updates.
Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, has been working to enhance the app’s cross-platform usability. Last year, WhatsApp introduced the ability to link a single account to multiple devices, paving the way for a seamless iPad experience without requiring a constant connection to a primary phone.
While WhatsApp has yet to officially confirm the app’s release, the teaser aligns with the company’s ongoing push to broaden its accessibility. With Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) just around the corner in June, it’s possible the announcement could coincide with that event.
Stay tuned as more details are expected to surface in the coming days.
