Nokia’s newest, Nokia 8.1 was revealed by HMD Global at an event which took place in Dubai on Wednesday. Just as anticipated the device is the global variant of the Nokia X7 which was launched in the Chinese Market in October. The smartphone comes with the same specifications as the Nokia X7, but the device is from the Android One programme just like other recently launched HMD Global Nokia smartphones. The major feature of the Nokia 8.1 is the device’s 6.18-inch PureDisplay with HDR10 support, along with its dual rear camera setup with Zeiss optics and also the Snapdragon 710 SoC.
The device runs on Android 9 Pie, and it is powered by 3,500mAh battery and has 18W fast charging capabilities. The Nokia 8.1 comes with a price tag of EUR 399, which is approximately Rs. 31,900 and it will go on sale in European as well as the Middle Eastern markets from mid-December. The smartphone comes in Blue/Silver, Steel/Copper, and Iron/Steel dual-tone colour options. HMD Global is set to host a launch event in India on December 10, we can expect that the company will reveal the device in India in December itself. Nokia 8.1 supports dual-SIM (Nano). Also, It sports a 6.18-inch full-HD+ (1080×2244 pixels) display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 81.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio, 500 nits peak brightness, and is capable of a 96 per cent colour gamut and HDR10 support.
The Nokia 8.1 is backed by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC clocked up to 2.2GHz, along with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The Nokia 8.1 sports a dual rear camera setup with Zeiss optics. It has the primary 12-megapixel camera sporting a 1/2.55-inch sensor, 1.4-micron pixels, OIS, EIS, 2PD (dual photodiode) tech along with a dual-LED flash. The secondary 13-megapixel fixed-focus for depth sensing. For the front camera, the Nokia 8.1 features a 20-megapixel fixed focus lens with 0.9-micron pixels, along with a 4-in-1 pixel tech for improved photography in low-light environments.
