Following the footsteps of its parent company Huawei, Honor has also announced a smartwatch. Honor Watch Magic was recently launched in China. The watch is cheaper, fancier and a toned down version of the Huawei watch GT. The new watch will retail with a starting price tag of RMB 899 (Rs 9,000 approx) which is RMB 400 less than the Huawei’s smartwatch. Honor Watch Magic comes in two variants – a Lava red colour variant which has a silicone strap for RMB 899 (Rs. 9,000 approx) and a Moonlight silver colour variant with a leather strap for RMB 999 (Rs. 10,000 approx).
At present, the Honor Watch Magic is only being sold in China through Vmall, JD.com, Tmall and Suning. The watch is expected to launch globally in January 2019. As far as the design is concerned, Honor Watch Magic looks similar to Huawei’s watch GT. It features a smaller 1.39-inch AMOLED screen which is seen on the watch GT. the dial of the watch is made of a stainless steel frame. Also, the users will get an option to choose from multiple watch faces. Honor Watch Magic is thinner as well. The thickness of the dial body is just 9.8mm whereas, the thickness of the dial body of Watch GT was 10.6mm.
The users will have an option of choosing from a silicone or leather band. These bands are 22mm and they are easily swappable. The watch is waterproof as well up to 50 metres (5 ATM). it is based on Huawei’s proprietary LiteOS platform. It uses a dual chip platform, one of them is a high-performance chip and the other one is an energy efficient chip. Honor Watch Magic has fitness tracking sensors, a heart rate monitor, built-in GPS, GLONASS and NFC. also, it can provide 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and it can give real-time suggestions as claimed by Honor.
